I used 2 gmail account one of them i wanna delete has a lot of updates has been implemented to the phone. When i try to delete it system says: "Account required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You can do that in privacy setting"

    Need advice...

    thanks.

Sorry, this menu did not correspond with my phone (Samsung S11)so I could not follow the instructions? :(

Hey Anonymous who posted on May 4th -

If you haven't found it by now, the way to delete an email account from your phone is the following:

    Press Home key
    Press Menu key
    Select "Settings" option
    Select "Accounts and Sync" option
Select the account you wish to delete
    Select "Remove Account"
  • Martin
My menus don't match any of the options here either. If I try the "Accounts and Sync" option I can see only the Google account, not the other e-mail account I'm trying to remove. Most frustrating. Any other ways to do this?

Martin - HOw did you add the account initially. This is where you probably be able to remove it. Also can you provide what account you are trying to remove.
  • ange  - waow!!
I began to discourage. I have been aaking that on several forums and I've been told that it was impossible to delete accounts. thank you very much for you so easy instructions. I've a galaxy s infuse 4g and it works!

Press the bin at the top righthand corner
Press the arrow in the box for the POP email account you want deleted

  • A. Mends  - GMail Account Deletion
I followed your guide to remove my gmail account very carefully. When I got to point 6 and held down the account in question, nothing came up, and all I had under the account is the 'Add Account' sign. I tried a few times holding it down for as long as possible, but each time nothing came up. What can I do

I followed your guide on how to delete my gmail account carefully. When I got to point 6, I touched the account and held it down for as long as possible. Nothing came up. 9What was underneath the account was the 'Add Account' tab, nothing else]. I tried a few times more, each time the same outcome. What can I do now?

    Kind regards,
    Anthony

Actually, my problem is almost identical to Yudis' and I get the same message when I tried to delete it. But I don't want to lose all my data. Is there any way round this? Help will be greatly appreciated.
