The samsung Notification ringtone alerts you when there is an event coming up, or if you have a text message sent to you. Missed call or an alarm would also sit under the notification area.

To change the ringtone for these alerts you would need to use these instructions:

1. Press the Home key.

2. Select Menu key.

3. Pick Settings.

4. Then choose Sounds.

5. Tap on Notification ringtone.

6. Pick a ringtone from the Ringtones popup.

From here you could also select Silent to make your phone mute from incoming call.
