Cookies allow Javascript to write website's information to it so that when you come back to the site it remember certain information about you. If you don't want to enable cookies on Internet Explorer 8 you could disable it. Try this to disable it:

1. Start Internet Explorer 8.

2. From the menu click on Tools -> Internet Options.

3. Go to Privacy tab.

4. Adjust the slider bar to from Accept All Cookies to Block All Cookies.

5. Click on Apply to accept the changes.

Note that certain website require you to have cookies set to on for it to work. If you turn off cookies some of the website you visit may not functions correctly.
