If you are unable to browse the web with Internet Explorer 8, but you can with Firefox then can set it to automatically detects LAN setting on the network so that it would work properly. Here's how:

1. Click on the Tools Menu.

2. Then select Internet Options.

3. Next click on the Connections tab and then click on Lan settings button.

4. From the popup dialog ensure that the checkbox Automatically detect settings is checked.

Click on OK and OK again to close the dialog.
