Home iPad Tips iPad 2: How To Turn Off Shutter Sound When Taken Photo
Author:

When taken photo on the iPad 2 it can make a loud shutter sound. If you like the sound you could switch it off. Here's how:

1. On the side of the iPad there is a volumn button, use the volumn button to lower the sound or even switch it all the way to silent so you won't hear anything at all.

I think at the moment you cannot change the shutter sound, so unfortunately you have to accept the default or turn it to silent.

It doesn't matter if you use the front or the back camera, you will hear a shutter sound when taken a photo.

While taken the photo you could switch between the front and the back camera by tapping on the ipad-2-camera-swap icon.

If you have jailbroken your iPad then you could use iPhoneBrowser to delete the sound file. Here's how:

1. Download the iPhoneBrowser software.

2. Plug the iPad into the PC.

3. Run the iPhoneBrowser.

4. Go to the folder /System/Library/Audio/UISounds

5. Locate the file photoShutter.caf file and delete it.

Look for the tiny sliding switch at the top of your ipad. This switch shuts off the alarm function as well as the camera shutter "click" noise.
