1. Verify that your PC has support USB 2.0 port and has the latest version of iTunes. At least 10.1 or later. It will only work on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or later or Mac OS X vesion 10.5.8 or later.

2. Check the USB cable to ensure it is still in good condition.

3. Try to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable into the computer. Always use inbuilt USB port from the PC.

4. If nothing work so far you could try to Restart the iPad. How to Restart iPad.

5. Next, try to restart your PC if nothing work so far. Disconnect your iPad, then restart your PC and then reconnect the iPad.

6. You could also install the iTunes software as sometimes reinstalling the software switch some of the settings back to default.

7. Check if there is any other software that is blocking iTunes communicating with iPad.

8. Check to Ensure that the iPad has enough battery power for it to work in iTunes. By not having enough power iTunes will not recognize the iPad. So you may have to recharge it for at least 20 minutes to ensure that it has some power.
