Author:

If you get an error while try to sync your iPhone and the error message is:

The iPod "<name>" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

This error message come about because it could not sync photo. The iPhone maybe able to sync music, podcasts and videos, however when syncing photos you will get the error.

When iTunes attempt to perform a photo synchronization for the first time it will try to create a folder on the computer called "iPod Photo Cache". You normally can located at:

>User>Pictures>iPhoto Library>iPod Photo Cache.

To fix this error just delete the folder.

1. Close iTunes app.

2. Go into the Pictures folder.

3. Next navigate to the iPhoto Library folder.

4. Now delete the iPod Photo Cache.

5. Start iTunes app again and try to re-sync.

You should now see the error goes away.

Been searching for weeks and finally someone linked me to this page where I was able to resolve the issue. It should be noted that User in the path provided should be YOUR PC computer's name. If you go under the wrong folder, it won't work. Also, it wasn't under Start > Pictures, I had to manually browser from Windows Explorer. Anyway, thanks guys. Don't delete this page ever! :)

  • Louis  - Your iPhone Sync Error Solution Worked
Out of nowhere, this same rather random error message appeared for me running Mtn Lion on my MacBook Pro and iOS6 on my iPhone. Your solution simply fixed the problem.
  • Sue  - Thanks
It worked for me. To think the first comment was "re-install everyting". I hate that!
  • Jason - Thanks and Additional
Didn't completely work for me but it did help me realize that the underlying problem was the multiple "user" accounts on our computer. iPhone was trying to drop photos into a Photo Cache on an Administrator account that the iPhone user didn't have "write" permission for. Simply changed the sync photo folder to the correct user.
  • Anonymous  - Thanks
Wow was that really all it is, would be nice if Apple would tell you that was the problem without charging $19 call I didn't make.
