The iPhone 4 lets you add a recent caller's phone number via the Recents shortcut to the contact list.

When somebody calls you, your iPhone display their phone number on the screen. If this new number isn't on the contact list, it will show the number instead of the contact. You can add this number to a new contact or an existing contact.

1. Open the Contacts app.

2. Now tap on + icon.

3. Tap on Recents.

4. Then select a desire number, tap on the right arrow icon .

5. You can then choose to Create New Contact or Add Existing Contact. If you choose Add Existing Contact, then select a contact to add the new number.

Now when that same number calls again, a contact will appear.
