The iPhone 4 device store its data in a file called IPSW. Whenever iTunes try to download and perform an update to your device, it first download the data into the IPSW file and then perform an update on your device. When you have a problem with the iPhone you would go to the iTunes software to restore your device back to the original settings, iTunes would typically use the IPSW file to restore your device. Where iPhone IPSW files are located? For Mac OS X users you could find it from this location: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/. For Windows user you could find it from the follow location: 1. Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\ 2. Windows Vista and Windows 7: {user}\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\. Where {user} is your user's profile name. What Program is used to open the IPSW File?
