You might see that the iPod for Windows Installer display a message "Waiting for iPod" and it may seem staying like that forever. If you are seeing this message then what you have to do is to close the that window and restore the iPod with the iPod Updater.

1. First close the open window by click on the X button.

2. Next try to continue with the rest of the installation.

3. If you see the error message 1628 then just click on OK. This error indicates that your installation is not successful.

4. Now before you can start using your iPod with Windows you have to restore your iPod with iPod Updater.
