Learn how to perform a hard reset on the iPod Touch. From time to time your device may not be working as expected. For example it may started to freeze up or response very slow. If this is the case then you will have to reset it. Also when you are selling your device to some one else you may also want to reset it back to the factory default. Here's how: You can reset it using hardware key combination 1. Press and hold down the Sleep/Wake + Home button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Soon you will see the Apple log shows up on the iPod screen. You can reset it using software menu If your device is not frozen you could use the software menu to reset it. 1. Go to the Home screen. 2. Then tap on Settings. 3. Next tap on General. 4. Now select Reset. 5. Now choose Reset All Settings or Erase All Content and Settings. Now you have the option to: - Reset All Settings: this will reset the applications setting back to the default. The content will still be intact. - Erase All Content and Settings: this will remove all the content on the device and reset the applications setting back to the default. If your device is not frozen you could use the software menu to reset it. Select one of the options above and the device will start to restore it self back to the factory default settings. By selecting Erase All Content and Settings option, you are require to reactivate the iPod again. To do so conenct your device into the PC and start iTunes. Then follow the onscreen instruction.
