When you install a new Joomla template, it is not always easy to know where the position is place on the webpage. Therefore, when it is time come to placing a module on the site, you might not know what position is available to use.

In this tutorial we will show you how you can run the template in preview mode, and it will displays all the available positions you could use.

Note: This tutorial is for Joomla 1.7.x.

1. Log into the Joomla administration site.

2. Click on menu Extensions > Template Manager.

3. Then click on the Options button on the upper right corner.

4. Select Templates tab and make sure Preview Module Positions radio box is set to Enable. Then click on Save & Close button.

5. Now from the Template Manager screen, select the Templates tab.

6. From the Template column, you should now see a Preview link, click on it to see the preview of that template.

Close the page when you are done with the preview.
