When you first installed Joomla, the website gives you the default template. The design is rather simple and not so pleasant.Depending on the nature of your business, you may wish to apply a completely different template. There are many templates out there which you could use, some you will have to pay and some you can download it for free. Note: This tutorial applies to Joomla 1.6 and Joomla 1.7. Here are the steps to modify the default template: 1. First download the template and save into a convenience location. I normally put it on the desktop for quick access. You can dowload free one from joomla24.com. 2. Next log into Joomla administration site with username and password. 3. Then click on Extensions > Extension manager, from menu bar. 4. Under Upload Package File, select the file you have downloaded in step 1, and click on the Upload & Install button to upload the template. 5. Now go to Extensions > Template Manager from the menu bar. 6. Under Styles tab, put your mouse over the desire template and select the column Default to set the default template. Once the desire template has been selected, a color star will appears.
