When someone put in a URL to your site that the page does not exist, the website normally display a 404 error page in Joomla. If you have installed JoomSEF on your Joomla website, then there is a section where it can assist you manage the issue. However if you don't have JoomSEF then there is another way. This tutorial have been tested on Joomla 1.7.x. 1. Log into the administration page.
2. Select Components. 3. Select Redirect. 4. Then select all the expired URL, scroll down to the bottom of the page, under the section Update selected links to the following new URL put in the new Destination URL link that the user will see when an error 404 occured.
5. Click on the Update Links to save the changes. Did you like this tip? Now when a 404 error occur on yoursite, the user will instead see a new page that you have put in the Destination URL text field.
