Whether you are a network administrator for a large or a small network, setting the disk quota for your network user is a great way to control your storage disk capacity. You know that some excessive user can quickly fill up the disk with all the videos and music file that they have downloaded from their favourite website. By using Disk Quota on Windows 7 you can control how much data they can store on the disk and if their quota has reach the limit then they will need to clean out the old files. Disk quota has been available in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista and now Windows 7 still has retained this excellent feature. To begin setting disk quota limits in Windows 7 right click on the drive properties in in Windows Explorer. Then go to the Quota tab and click on Show Quota Settings
Check the Enable quota management to activate disk quota management. Also check the Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit to limit the amount of data the system user can store on hard disk. Set the limit disk space to 500 MB and Set warning Level to 400 MB. When the user have store data more then 400 MB a warning is log in the event logs. Ensure the Log Event checkbox is checked if you want to monitor their usage.
The disk quota setting only applies to a single drive partition so if you want to enable to disk quota management to the other drive then you need to perform the above steps again with other drives.
