You are trying to connect to a PC from your laptop and you are getting an error "\\Greg is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.". You may also have noticed the message "Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." in the event log.

You are getting this error because the guest account does not have permission to access the network resource.

First download the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools from Microsoft.

You can download it here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=4544

To solve the error "\\Greg is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." follow these steps:

1. First start the command shell (Start -> All Programs -> Windows Resource Kit Tools -> Command Shell)

2. Enable network access for the Guest account

In the command shell run the following  three commands:

a) net user guest /active:yes
b) ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Guest
c) ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Guest

Hope this will help to solve the error "Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

You might also want to run the following script from the command prompt if you still gets this error:

cd drive:\Inetpub\AdminScripts
cscript synciwam.vbs

The script will allow the IWAM user account to have permission to the File Access Configuration page.
